Franco Colapinto, during the Sao Paulo Driver’s press conference, expressed his hopes to remain in F1 for the 2025 season.
Despite clarifying that he wasn’t the person to question about his future in the sport, the young Argentinian is confident he would succeed if allowed to drive next year.
What are Franco Colapinto’s options for next year?
Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz is set to join Williams in the 2025 season. Therefore, Colapinto is forced to look elsewhere to continue his career in F1.
There are very limited opportunities available to Colapinto in terms of a seat for the 2025 season. However, with Red Bull’s Sergio Perez’s future seemingly in doubt, more options may arise for the Argentine.
Red Bull team principal Christian Horner suggested that the team may part ways with Perez and explore other options. As a result, RB drivers Liam Lawson and Yuki Tsunoda have been linked to the second seat.
With Lawson’s seat at RB only being confirmed for the remainder of 2024, Colapinto has been linked to a seat with the team next year. Additionally, a second seat is still up for grabs at Kick Sauber, which is set to become Audi in 2026.
Franco Colapinto’s impressive introduction to F1
Franco Colapinto was suddenly allowed to replace former Williams driver Logan Sargeant from the Monza Grand Prix. Finishing twelfth in his first F1 race, the young driver gave an excellent first impression to potential teams for 2025.
When asked in the Driver’s Press Conference, Lewis Hamilton shared his thoughts on Colapinto’s impressive and sudden start in F1.
