What to Expect From Williams Racing in the 2025 F1 Season?

Williams Racing is a team with a vibrant history in Formula 1. The British team has been home to some very big names in F1 History, including Alain Prost and Ayrton Senna and it holds the second most constructors championships of any time currently.

In recent times, however, Williams has struggled to maintain its performance. The team has struggled staying in contention, often finding itself below the midfield. 2025 seems to be another turning point for the Championship-winning team, for the better this time.

With the signing of Carlos Sainz to partner with Alex Albon, the Oxfordshire-based team has one of the strongest driver lineups on the grid. The pre-season testing also showed huge potential that might see Williams at the top of the midfield if not better. Can Williams bring back their glory days in 2025?

Williams surprises in pre-season testing

Williams had everyone looking their way during pre-season testing. The British team ran over 395 laps in total over three days.

The first day of the tests was a pleasant one for the Blue team as they managed to put both cars in the Top 10 with Carlos Sainz on P5, 1.5s behind the leader, and Alex Albon on P9, another second down.

On the second day, Carlos Sainz was on track for the whole day, running 126 laps over both the sessions. The Spaniard impressed everyone when he put his Williams at P1 ahead of Lewis Hamilton who was trailing by 0.031s.

The third day saw Alex Albon on the track for both the sessions and he didn’t impress any less as he went P3 in his Williams just behind Max Verstappen by 0.105s.

Can Williams return to the top of the midfield?

After the team’s performance in pre-season tests and the drivers’ positive impression of the car, a return to the top of the midfield seems imminent.

The biggest rivals that the British team might face besides the top teams are Alpine and Racing Bulls, who had a similar pace in pre-season tests as well. More data means a better developed car, and with both drivers in form, Williams might just overturn their run of bad luck

With a new title sponsor and expertise from Carlos Sainz’s experience at the front, The Oxfordshire-based team might just lead the midfield in 2025 or even better. What do you think? Can Williams return to their glory once again? Let us know in the comments below.
