As Cadillac is building its team for the 2026 season, the issue of its driver lineup has not yet been solved. While many people are aware of the frontrunners for the seat, Sergio Perez and Valtteri Bottas, Cadillac Team Principal Graeme Lowdon has now confirmed that Mick Schumacher is also on the shortlist to join the team.
Mick Schumacher made his F1 debut in 2021 with the Haas Formula 1 team and competed until the end of the 2022 season, after which he parted ways with the team. He joined Mercedes as a reserve driver, where he managed to impress with his skills and insights. However, Schumacher is eager to get back on the Formula 1 grid to show what he can do.
Cadillac Team Principal comments on building their team
In a recent interview with Sky Sports, Graeme Lowdon has provided a unique insight into what’s currently happening at Cadillac as they prepare for their Formula 1 debut at Albert Park in Australia in 2026:
“We’re extremely busy. It’s not often a brand-new Formula 1 team joins the grid. Everything is new, the biggest challenge is building the team. We’ve completed two-thirds of the journey in terms of assembling the personnel.”
“The car is also on schedule. I’m very pleased with everyone who has joined us so far – I’m confident they’ll bring fresh input.”
While Cadillac is still very busy building the team and car in general, the matter of their lineup continues to come up. Despite no official announcements from the team, the Team Principal at Cadillac has confirmed several drivers who are in the running for the seats at the team.
Graeme Lowdon Confirms Interest in Mick Schumacher
When asked about the driver lineup, Lowdon confirmed the possibility of a return to F1 for Mick Schumacher:
“Mick is great. He’s a very nice guy, I really like him. I’ve gotten to know him better recently. He’s still young, but he has Formula 1 experience. Sure, that was a while ago, but he’s kept himself up to date. He’s done tests and shown strong interest in the project – we really like that.”
“He’s not a stranger to the team. He knows where we stand. There’s a lot of positive things to say about Mick. He’s definitely one of the drivers on our list, I should point out that the list is quite long.”
