Following an amazing Formula 2 Feature Race in the wet at Spa-Francorchamps, fans were left disappointed by the end result as several drivers were either disqualified or given penalties after the race. This time, it was Red Bull junior Arvid Lindblad who was disqualified following a tyre pressure infringement.
Just like in Formula 1, all cars have to be in compliance with the FIA regulations for the series. While Formula 2 may have simpler regulations, this doesn’t mean that you still can’t fall foul of them in a given weekend. This led many fans to show their frustration as they regularly have to wait for hours to find out the final result of a race.
A spectacular race with an anticlimactic result
When Formula 2 had to start their Feature Race on Sunday morning, the track was as wet as it could be while still being raceable. This gave all drivers the ultimate opportunity to show what they could do in the most difficult of conditions at the most challenging track of the calendar. However while the race was full of top tier racing skill, the FIA announced hours later that there would be a different winner due to post race penalties.
How does this happen every week in F2

This is not the first time that post race penalties affect the race winner of a weekend and fans are starting to turn on the series as they see “no point in watching the race, if the final classification is always different”. Fans took to twitter to make their opinions known and while some of them may be sheer frustration, many of them actually have a point.
This series is becoming difficult to watch now, the order of race results changes way to much from the way they took chequered flag! (I understand the reasons of penalties and DSQs but it’s a bit too much)

A few weeks ago in Austria, we also saw Formula 3’s race winner and podium finishers being either penalized or disqualified due to plank wear. While this is a more common problem in motorsport, people still think that we see these breaches way too often, and there should be a better way to prevent cases like this.
This happening every week is making F2 look ridiculous need to address this

Despite these post race changes in results, the CEO of Formula 2 Bruno Michel has praised the series and its driver’s for completing the race in the conditions they had. In light of his disqualification, the Red Bull junior is really happy with what he accomplished during the race. He elaborated on the next steps in an interview.
Arvid Lindblad will keep on fighting as Formula 2 heads to Hungary
Arvid Lindblad came across the finish line in second place during the Formula 2 Feature race and sadly had to make peace with zero points after the unfortunate infringement. He spoke on the matter after the race, as he vowed to keep pushing with the team:
“Spa wasn’t what we worked for. I gave everything. I maximised what was in my control but other factors denied us what we deserved. We will be back in Budapest.”

With only a few races remaining on the F2 calendar, it is vital to score points consistently and even more so to outscore your rivals. As it stands, there are just five more rounds in the 2025 season with a maximum of 38 points up for grabs. Lindblad is currently P6 in the championship with a 41-point gap to the championship leader Leonardo Fornaroli. If he wants to remain in contention, he’ll have to pull out all the stops as the F2 season comes to a close.
