This season in Formula 1, we have seen McLaren dominate the rest of the competition. The Driver’s Championship battle seems to go between either McLaren drivers at the halfway point. Mainly due to their nearest competition being 97 points behind them. With this level of performance and consistency, come some amazing stats and facts.
During the Hungarian Grand Prix, it was Charles Leclerc who took a stunning pole position on Saturday. However, even that would not stop the McLaren drivers from finishing 1-2 and getting even closer to sealing the season completely. With 10 races to go in this season, we will only see more amazing stats grow and records be broken.
McLaren pair are unstoppable in 2025 when it comes to 1-2 finishes
In only a few races this year, the McLarens have struggled to reach the podium. Canada being the biggest race since both McLarens didn’t get to the top 3. This is, however, an exception to the rule. Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris have a combined tally of 24 podiums, with 12 each. Out of these 12 podiums, Norris and Piastri have finished 1-2 in either combination 7 times. Hungary marked the 4th consecutive 1-2 and the team’s 200th win.
McLaren has 6 1-2 finishes this season yet no other team has more than 6 total podiums 😳

A specialist in sharing stunning statistics, Daniel Valente on X, posted a comparison between McLaren and the rest of the teams when it comes to 1-2 finishes and podiums. As he did this before the Hungary Grand Prix, McLaren and Mercedes now both have seven rather than 6 in their respective columns.
This statistic becomes even more crazy when you realize that Mercedes is the only team to have both of their drivers share a podium. For Red Bull, Ferrari and Sauber only one of their drivers scored podiums. This being Verstappen, Leclerc and Hulkenberg, who have all shown strong pace in both races and qualifying this season.
McLaren shows no signs of stopping for the second half of the 2025 season
With only 10 more races to be completed this season, everyone’s mind starts to drift towards the conclusion of both title fights. While the Constructor’s Championship seems to be wrapped up in record time this season, the Driver’s Title is a different story altogether.
The gap between Piastri and Norris is very small compared to what we have seen in recent years. Only 9 points separate the pair as they seem to be trading race wins at this point. A single bad weekend for either drivers could mean a massive shift in the fight for their first World Title. Nevertheless, while the battle on paper seems very close, we see surprisingly little on track fighting between the two drivers.
For the final stages of the season, everyone will have to wait and see which way the battle goes. There are still many fantastic venues to visit. Among them are Zandvoort, Monza, Baku, Singapore, and the always passionate Interlagos. All of these venues are tracks where we have seen amazing racing action and fantastic battles in all types of different conditions.
While we might not see any other drivers win races this season, we can be sure that the McLaren pair will start racing each other a little harder as the amount of points on offer will dwindle with every race they complete. Who do you think will win the title in 2025? Will we any other drivers on the podium this season? Leave all your predictions in the comments below.
