The eight-time grand prix winner came off his bike whilst he was riding through the Daintree in Queensland. He was then transported to Mossman Hospital, which is about 50km away. Following treatment, he was back in his signature good mood.
Known for his charismatic personality and daring overtakes, the Australian driver was one of the most beloved drivers in Formula 1. His career highlights include a notable stint with Red Bull Racing from 2014-2018, where he became a fan favourite for his aggressive yet smooth driving style.
What is Daniel Ricciardo up to after Formula 1?
The last few years of Ricciardo’s racing career were turbulent. After two somewhat-difficult seasons at McLaren, he returned to Red Bull as a reserve driver in 2023 before securing a full-time seat with sister team AlphaTauri (now known as Visa Cash App RB).
His final season in Formula 1 was inconsistent. The ‘Honey Badger’ displayed flashes of his old brilliance. However, these were overshadowed by frustrating performances. Ricciardo finished the season 17th in the standings with 12 points before retiring from Formula 1.

After his final race at the Singapore Grand Prix 2024, Ricciardo has remained private. As one of the paddock’s most popular figures, the fans are always eager for news. His social media posts show he has been travelling, most recently in Alaska.
In a social media post this June, Ricciardo joked he was coming out of retirement to set up his new business: Dabble Dan. This is a consumer-facing experience designed to enhance fan culture around live sports events.
There has been wishful speculation that he may return, potentially with Cadillac in 2026. However, there has been no evidence to support this. It may be time to accept that his racing career is over.
While Daniel Ricciardo’s motorcycle scare briefly ignited fears for his well-being, the Aussie will no doubt back back from this. Though his Formula 1 career may have reached the finish line, Ricciardo will continue to embody the same infectious energy that made him a fan favourite.
