Christian Horner Secures Massive £80 Million Deal Following Red Bull Exit

Red Bull has announced that the ex-team principal Christian Horner will officially be leaving the team today, September 22nd 2025. This comes after the sacked from his position during the Belgian Grand Prix weekend earlier this year.

Horner was accused of sexual misconduct by a female employee of Red Bull at the start of 2024. An accusation widely considered to be the accelerant of the exit of Horner at Red Bull. This marks the end of a 20-year employment for the Brit and leaves many people wondering about what is next.

Christian Horner’s chapter at Red Bull is officially over

Despite being removed as Team Principal and Red Bull Racing CEO, Christian Horner had not left the team yet, as he was still under contract. A contract that would have run until 2030. As a result of this, Horner will leave with a pretty sizeable sum of £80 million to aid him in finding his next project.

Horner gave an official statement with regards to his exit from the team and the achievements he managed during that time:

“Leading Red Bull Racing has been an honour and privilege. When we started in 2005, none of us could have imagined the journey ahead — the championships, the races, the people, the memories. I’m incredibly proud of what we achieved as a team, breaking records and reaching heights no one would ever believe were possible, and I will forever carry that with me.”

He thanked all levels of personnel and wished the team the best of success going forward. Along with that, he also thanked the late Dietrich Mateschitz for the opportunity he gave Horner as a 31-year-old.

Horner’s next chapter starts now, but will it be in Formula 1?

During Horner’s tenure as Team Principal of one of the more successful teams in Formula 1, it would be no surprise to see the Brit pop up at a different team from 2026 onwards. His insights and experience could be invaluable to teams who still have some ground to make up.

In the most recent Grand Prix weekend, we saw the effect that James Vowles has on Williams and the result that came with it. Team Principals can be the deciding factor in how a team works and what sort of atmosphere the team operates in. Going into 2026, Formula 1 will enter a new era of regulations, and it will be ever important to have a well-oiled machine of a team working in harmony.

During the 2025 season, Horner is not the only team principal to be replaced in Formula 1. Jonathan Wheatley has taken charge of Sauber, Ollie Oakes has left Alpine mid-season to leave Flavio Briatore in charge at Alpine, and Alan Permane replaced the Red Bull-bound Laurent Mekies at Racing Bulls.

With all of these changes, it’s likely that we will see another happening in the coming year, and Horner would be at the top of the list of candidates should that happen.
