Few drivers have rewritten Formula 1 history in the way that Max Verstappen has. As the Flying Dutchman celebrates his 28th birthday, he adds yet another milestone to his ever-growing list of astonishing achievements.
Max Verstappen, at his relatively young age, has 67 victories to his name. His tally now eclipses the likes of Sebastian Vettel, Michael Schumacher, and Lewis Hamilton at the same stage in their careers.
The unprecedented trajectory of Max Verstappen
From the moment Verstappen entered Formula 1, his career followed an unconventional path. He was the youngest Formula 1 driver to join the grid in 2015 at the age of 17, and he also became the youngest Grand Prix race winner in 2016.
In recent years, he etched his name deeper into F1 history by dominating the ‘ground effect era’. Cue the 2023 season, where he shattered his own benchmark of 15 victories in a single season with 19 wins. Not to mention when he broke Vettel’s record for most consecutive wins in the same season.
No other driver in F1 history had more career wins on their 28th birthday than Max Verstappen 🥳

Verstappen leans towards greatness, and recent history confirms it. When compared to all-time drivers like Vettel, Schumacher, and Hamilton – who each had their own eras of dominance – none matched the milestone that the Red Bull driver has achieved by the age of 28.
At his current pace, Verstappen is on course to statistically become the greatest Formula 1 driver of all time. Should he choose to stay in Formula 1, that is.
Verstappen’s story continues, as he remains in contention for a fifth World Championship title
Following a rather uncharacteristic season for the Dutchman, this has been his “worst” campaign in the last four years. Verstappen currently has four wins, his latest in Baku, where he executed a flawless race and crossed the finish line with the biggest margin of the season so far.
Considering his struggles with the RB21, the Dutchman was pessimistic about his ability to fight for the championship, considering himself merely a participant in the World Championship.
Now, with the tides seemingly turning for Red Bull after two successive strong weekends, the odds are slowly shifting back in Verstappen’s favor. The Dutchman sits just 69 points behind Championship leader, Oscar Piastri, with seven rounds still to go.

Statistically, Verstappen is still in the fight for a fifth Drivers’ title. If he manages to snatch the title from the McLaren duo, he’ll be joining Michael Schumacher as the only driver to win five championships in a row. And he’ll be the youngest to do so.
Verstappen is great in his own right, and few doubt his ability to swing momentum his way. Whether circumstances allow is a different story. But if they do, the Dutchman is set to break another record, rewriting Formula 1 history once again.
