Charles Leclerc Criticises Ferrari After Falling Behind rivals

Ferrari has not been up to the mark this season, following a strong 2024 season, which saw them miss out on the constructors’ championship by just 14 points. The Scuderia managed five grand prix wins last term, but has yet to taste glory so far in 2025. Despite recording five podiums so far this year, Charles Leclerc doesn’t believe that Ferrari will win this year.

Lewis Hamilton managed a sprint race win in China, which was the second round of the championship. The Prancing Horse has been close on a few occasions but failed to take advantage of the situations. Now, Leclerc believes Ferrari has fallen further behind their rivals and has now lost out to Mercedes.

Charles Leclerc believes Ferrari is now the fourth-quickest team

The Singapore GP was another difficult weekend for Ferrari. Charles Leclerc was their highest finisher in P6, but 45 seconds off the lead. He crossed the line behind both McLarens, both Mercedes, and Max Verstappen. This cemented that the Scuderia is the fourth-quickest team.

Speaking to the media after the race, Leclerc concluded, “It’s tough, it’s very tough. We are not strong at the moment, and we are struggling massively with the car. It’s not easy.

“We did steps forward [at the start of the season], but the others did as well, so the gap stayed kind of the same and then Red Bull kind of found two steps in a season.

“Now Mercedes seems to have done this step forward, and we are the only ones that didn’t find that solution.”

After the result in Singapore, Ferrari finds itself third in the championship, 27 points behind Mercedes. Red Bull is also closing in on the Italian team and is just eight points off the Scuderia. On Ferrari’s form, there is every chance they will finish the season fourth in the standings.

Is there any hope for Ferrari for the rest of the season?

Charles Leclerc has poured cold water on any improvement in Ferrari’s results for the rest of the 2025 season. He says that there is no step forward for the SF-25 to find more pace, as they don’t have more upgrades in the pipeline.

Leclerc conceded, “I wish I could say that I’m positive for the rest of the season, I don’t think there’s anything in the car that proves to me that we are going to do a step forward.

“I think this is the reality of our situation at the moment. I don’t quite know how to turn that situation around because we don’t have new parts or anything coming to the car.”

Maranello will hope that the work they are conducting at the factory will help the 2026 challenger compete for race wins. The SF-25 is a difficult car to drive and has disappointed throughout the season. The Tifosi will hope 2026 brings a much better season and results.
