Aston Martin has announced that Dan Fallows will be stepping down from his role as Technical Director. Fallows joined the team back in 2022 and has played an integral role in the team’s success, especially in 2023. But now, he has decided it is time to move on.
Earlier this season, Aston Martin announced Adrian Newey as their new Technical Partner for the 2025 season. With such a major player joining the team’s technical department, some changes within the team were inevitable.
Dan Fallows stepping down, but not parting ways with Aston Martin
Although Dan Fallows is stepping down from his position, he is not completely parting ways with the Aston Martin group. A statement from the team read:
“Aston Martin Aramco and Technical Director Dan Fallows have today jointly announced that from November, Dan will no longer serve as Technical Director of the Formula One Team. Dan will remain with the Group.”

Dan will be stepping down from his duties in the Formula 1 team. But he will still be a part of the overall Aston Martin group. Fallows is not being pushed out of the team, but instead feels it’s his time to “pass the baton”.
Joining the team in 2022, Fallows helped build and develop the AMR23 which took 8 podiums in the 2023 season. Before joining the team, Fallows worked for Red Bull Racing as their Head of Aerodynamics. He has had the opportunity to work with several F1 World Champions such as Fernando Alonso, Sebastian Vettel and Max Verstappen.
Who will replace Dan Fallows?
Adrian Newey is set to join the Silverstone-based team as their Technical Partner in 2025. This is a different title than the one Dan Fallows held. However, the duties will be similar to those of the Technical Director. The only difference is that as a Technical Partner, Newey will have a stake in the Aston Martin F1 Team.
The timing of Newey’s arrival will be perfect to develop the team’s 2026 challenger. Given that the FIA will be introducing several changes to the Technical Regulations in 2026, the pecking order of the grid will undergo a shuffle. With Newey’s help, Aston Martin will be looking to come up on top.
As mentioned above, Fallows is not completely stepping away from the team. He could still come back part-time as a consultant to help out the Technical team.
