If you were to describe the Singapore Grand Prix, boring would not be the word to use until 2024 that is. Today’s race was the first race at Marina Bay that did not have a safety car. Only one car retired and that was due to a heating malfunction. There were no crashes or lizard appearances. But after the race, we did get some entertainment as Lando Norris had a surprise waiting for him.
Race winner Lando Norris was able to pull off an exceptional drive coming in first place. Even with scraping the wall 2 times (maybe more), he was still able to win with a 20+ second gap. The gap during the race was so big that Norris led every single lap of the Singapore GP.
David Coulthard Pours Bucket of Water on Lando Norris post-Singapore GP
While on his cool-down lap, Norris pulled up his visor to wipe the sweat from his eyes. When he pulled up into the Parce Femme you could see how drenched he was. Trying to cool himself down, he splashed a little water on the back of his neck and wiped his face. Despite this, he was still overheated.
As Norris was going for his interview with David Coulthard, you could still see the heads of sweat rolling down the side of his face. After Coulthard conducted the interview with Lando, he thought it would be a good idea to pour a bucket of water on Norris just to cool him down. Norris laughed and felt relieved as though he needed that. The British driver then went to share a warm hug with Coulthard.
Looking at Norris before and after the interview, he needed that bucket of water to be poured on him. He later got another soaking while on the podium. But this time it wasn’t water.
Why is the Singapore GP more physically demanding than the other race?
The Singapore GP is one of the most physically demanding races on the calendar. This is mainly because of its high temperatures and humidity. Drivers tend to sweat more than usual in Singapore and as a result, they also tend to lose more weight during the race.

This year was Franco Colapinto’s first race at the Marina Bay Circuit. After the race, he got out of his car and leaned on the car’s Halo for a few seconds before proceeding. This just showed how demanding the race was. This is one of those races where drivers love to sit in an ice bath afterwards.
This is one of the reasons the race here is held in the night as it is cooler. Upon returning to the calendar in 2008, F1 introduced the Singapore GP as the first-ever night race in the sport’s history.
David is so real for this
One of the best moments of the last race!!!
