The Argentine driver’s best qualifying finish has been P12, and his best race finish is P13, in Canada and Monaco. Just like Doohan, Colapinto has failed to post even a single point on the board.

“With Colapinto not performing and making accidents, he can have a problem with Briatore who won’t help with a driver’s morale. So Colapinto in this moment is not safe,” Patrese adds.

Pierre Gasly Breaks Silence on Alpine Driver Rumors With Subtle Swipe at Valtteri Bottas Speculation

Colapinto doesn’t have much time to prove to Alpine that he belongs. He would have to make an instant impact in the upcoming races, mainly at Spa.

The A525 has been equally mediocre for both drivers, especially with tyre management. Moreover, the Renault RE25 1.6 turbo-hybrid V6 power unit hasn’t been helping the Enstone-based team as well. It would be interesting to see how Colapinto ends up performing under pressure.
