Lando Norris drove a dominating race at the Singapore GP. For the first time in his career, Lando was able to retain the lead at the end of lap 1 while starting from pole position. Once he did this, it was a dominant display of performance from the British driver. He went on to finish 20 seconds ahead of Verstappen who came in 2nd.
This impressive performance has not only helped the team extend their lead in the Constructors’ Championship but has also helped Norris close in on Max in the Drivers’ Championship. This season is going to lead to an exciting ending for the Championships.
Lando Norris reduces Max Verstappen’s Championship lead at the Singapore GP
After the Singapore GP, Lando Norris is only 52 points behind Max Verstappen. There are still 6 more Grand Prix races and 3 more Sprint races remaining this season and as it stands, Max can retain the lead if he just finishes 2nd in every race.
However, given the current form of the teams, Max might have to settle for a P3 or lower in a race or few. The same could also go for Norris who might not be able to win every race. This could set an exciting race at the finale in Abu Dhabi.

The last time we saw a Drivers’ Championship fight settled at the final race was the 2021 Abu Dhabi GP. This was an epic showdown between Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton where the Red Bull driver beat Hamilton on the very last lap to win the Championship. Looking at how the standings are shaping up to be, we could see something on similar lines this year as well.
McLaren take commanding lead over Red Bull in the Constructors’ Championship
While Lando focuses on his Championship, McLaren is focusing on theirs. Back in Baku, the Papaya team took a 20-point lead to Red Bull after Sergio Perez suffered a DNF from 3rd place. This weekend at Singapore, McLaren has extended that lead to 41 points.
After an impressive performance from both McLaren drivers and with Perez scoring only a single point, Red Bull has fallen behind by a lot. They are now at risk of losing 2nd place to Ferrari who are just 34 points behind. Although Red Bull outscored Ferrari by 3 points in Singapore, it still keeps the Prancing Horses in contention.

After the Singapore GP, the F1 teams and drivers will be headed to a 3-week break where the teams can analyze where they are and where they can be by the end of the season. We can also expect the teams to bring some upgrades for the next race at Austin.
Do you think Lando Norris can win the Drivers’ Championship this season? Also, do you think Red Bull can take back the lead in the Constructors’ championship, or could they lose 2nd position as well to Ferrari? Post your thoughts in the comments section below.
