Lewis Hamilton Faces Unwanted Ferrari Record as Ferrari Boss Shifts Focus to Charles Leclerc

The 2025 Formula 1 season has been bittersweet for Scuderia Ferrari. While one side of the garage, driven by Charles Leclerc, has been scoring valuable points and podiums for the team, the other side, driven by Lewis Hamilton, has had a tough time getting adjusted to the car.

Despite having the best track record in F1 history, Hamilton has struggled in this transition. With 14 races without a podium, the 7-time champion is nearing an unwanted Ferrari record. If Hamilton doesn’t finish on the podium in the next five races, he will be the Ferrari driver with the most races without finishing on the podium.

Despite Hamilton struggling on one side of the Ferrari garage, Fred Vasseur has made his goal for the season very clear.

With just 10 more races left this season, Fred Vasseur wants to win at least one race this year.

“I still want to win at least one Grand Prix this year. We need to get the most out of everything we have.”

But given that Hamilton is struggling with the SF-25, Vasseur is looking to Charles Leclerc to deliver that race win.

“In a season like this, when there are so many expectations and then you go through a bad period, it’s very easy to give up. But Charles has never done that and has always given his all, supporting the team and collaborating excellently with Lewis.”

Although they are 2nd in the Constructors’ Championship, they are the only team among the top 4 to not have won a Grand Prix. They nearly did so in Hungary, but Leclerc faced a chassis issue, costing him the win.

Among the 10 races remaining, F1 will head to Ferrari’s home Grand Prix in Monza on 7th September. This is one race where we can always expect Ferrari to push more than they usually do. Charles has already won in Monza twice before. So we can expect the team to push for a 3rd this year.

Teammates in Formula 1 are usually considered as the closest rivals as they are the only 2 drivers on the grid with the same car. However, the 2 drivers will also need to work together in order to beat the competition. And that is exactly what Leclerc intends to do.

“At the end, we are one team, and as much as I want to finish in front of Lewis, I want both of us to be successful, and Ferrari to be successful,” Leclerc told the media.

“Obviously, this weekend has been a tough one for Lewis, but I have no doubt it’s a one-off, and I’m sure the second part of the season will be a lot more positive.”

‘It’s Just a One-Off’ – Charles Leclerc Says Ferrari Unity Will Bring Better Results With Lewis Hamilton

This year, Ferrari will have only two goals: one–to win a Grand Prix, and two–to finish second in the Constructors’ Championship.

Given the major regulation changes for next year, the teams have already shifted focus to developing the next era of F1 cars. So we will most likely not see any major upgrades for any of the team in the second half of the season.

Hence, finishing 2nd in the Constructors’ should be an easier task than winning a race. The issue that comes with winning a race this year is McLaren. The Papaya team has built a dominant car this year, and it looks as though they will win all the remaining races.

However, we could see Ferrari perform well in tracks like Monza, Singapore, and maybe a couple more. After all, Formula 1 racing can get unpredictable at times.
