The 2024 Formula 1 season, started with a whirlwind of announcements and driver changes but didn’t stop there. One of the driver changes happened after the summer break with Logan Sargeant leaving Formula 1. With his Formula 1 career over, Sargeant began to explore other options.
One of those options is the NTT IndyCar series. IndyCar is another single-seater motorsport series. The series features races across the United States of America, where Sargeant is from. A few IndyCar drivers have raced for Formula 1, the most recent being Pato O’Ward in Free Practice 1 for the Mexican Grand Prix.
Logan Sargeant to test for Indy Car
After being axed by Williams Racing, Logan Sargeant found himself unemployed. With most of the IndyCar seats already filled up, it was a surprise that he would be testing for Indy. On November 19, Sargeant will test a car for the IndyCar team Meyer Shank Racing. On November 11, Sargeant completed his cockpit fitting ahead of the testing.
Logan Sargeant has been confirmed for an Indycar test later this year.

The test will be at The Thermal Club in California. During this session, Sargeant will show off his single-seater skills for Michael Shank, the co-owner of Meyer Shank Racing. Additionally, Sargeant and Shank have known each other for a while now.
When asked about Sargeant, Shank said, “Any time, in my opinion, you can test a person with a Super License, you need to do it” (IndyCar). However, despite the significance of this test, no matter what the outcome is, Sargeant cannot be signed to the team for next year, as their roster is already set.
Logan Sargeant’s abrupt end in F1
Logan Sargeant’s first year in Formula 1 was 2023. After being a member of the Williams Drivers Academy, it was the next natural step for him to join the Williams Racing team. Throughout the 2023 season, Sargeant consistently struggled to adapt to the demands of Formula 1. His only point came at the United States Grand Prix, where he finished 10th.

Furthermore, despite all the training and effort Sargeant put in, his situation did not improve during the 2024 season. His struggles continued, and at one point, Williams opted to give his car to teammate Alex Albon after Albon had a crash. Ultimately, he did not meet the standards expected of Williams. As a result, Sargeant lost his F1 seat after the 2024 Dutch Grand Prix and was replaced by Argentine F2 driver Franco Colapinto.
