Red Bull shocked the F1 paddock after announcing they had decided to part ways with team principal Christian Horner. The 51-year-old had been part of the Red Bull fabric since its inception and helped Sebastian Vettel and Max Verstappen win four world championships each.
Horner’s demise came after allegations of harassment against an employee, which were squashed, as well as tensions behind the scenes. The team was also struggling in this year’s championship, languishing in fourth place.
Some people believe that it was time for Horner to move on. However, Sky Sports F1 pundit Martin Brundle defended Christian. He claims that Max Verstappen’s team was responsible for the sacking and says that they were “lobbing in hand grenades” to get him removed. However, many people have disagreed with this view.
F1 fans think Martin Brundle is wrong after his comments on Christian Horner sacking
Martin Brundle stated on the Sky F1 podcast that he thought Max Verstappen’s camp might have impacted Red Bull’s decision to sack Christian Horner. However, fans disagreed with the former McLaren driver. People were quick to accuse Brundle of British bias.
One fan wrote: “Keep your British biased BS to yourself!”

Max Verstappen has previously accused the British media of bias against him and his team. Is this another case of being biased against him and Red Bull? Or does Martin Brundle have a point?
Is Jos Verstappen behind the sacking of Christian Horner?
Martin Brundle singled out Jos Verstappen, Max’s father, as a key person lobbying against Horner’s position at Red Bull. Brundle claimed: “Max’s dad, Jos, has made it absolutely clear that he thinks Christian shouldn’t be leading the company and leading the team. So I would say yes, they’ve played a key role in Christian’s exit.”
It appears that some fans agree with this assessment. One wrote: “Jos Verstappen was fully behind sacking of Horner that much is clear.”

Other fans believed that Horner’s sacking was unfair. Another fan said: “As much as I can’t stand Horner, Horner built that team! Regardless those silly events happened recently. Horner should’ve not been sacked this way. Not after all the success he brought in. All I see is downfall of Red Bull.”

Christian Horner divided the F1 world, and so has his dismissal. He brought much success to Red Bull in just 20 years, but a lot has gone on with the 51-year-old Brit behind the scenes. Did Red Bull make the right choice in sacking Horner? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
