Pierre Gasly believes that Alpine can turn things around in 2026 and become a race-winning team as they take on the new regulations as a Mercedes-powered team. Whilst there is still uncertainty about who will partner the French driver next season, Gasly has made it clear that he is confident going into the new era.
The Frenchman has been with the team since the 2023 season and has dominated the midfield consistently after leaving Alpha Tauri – now VCARB. Flavio Briatore’s return to F1 has coincided with the drive towards the new regulations, and it seems that what the team sacrifices now will aid them in next year’s campaign.
Pierre Gasly says he has the speed, but what about the other factors that go into winning?
It has been a tough few seasons for the Enstone-based team, having struggled with reliability and pace. Earlier this season, Jack Doohan was dropped and replaced with Franco Colapinto as the team continue their fight to dominate the midfield. Gasly has been quietly consistent, having scored all 20 of the teams points this year.
Speaking about team development, Gasly said: “I’ve always had the speed. Then, you need the consistency, you need the team to work; you need to work for the team, but then the team to work for you. By having this type of mentality, you get more out of the team and get more out of yourself, the package.”
CONFIRMED: Alpine F1 Team Partners with Mercedes for Power Units
Gasly has cemented himself as a leader, and with nine seasons under his belt, it seems the Frenchman is dedicated to moving forward with Alpine. With Mercedes supplying the team’s engines in 2026, could we see Alpine taking the grid by storm?
Could we see a Gasly-Alpine Championship campaign?
Alpine has been viewed as unstable over the last few seasons, with a revolving door of team personnel. Briatore’s return sent shock-waves through the paddock, but are all the moving parts finally falling into place?
Talking about his position at Alpine, Gasly said: “I’m happy with the way I work with the team. I’m very competitive, regardless of the performance of the car. You can say it’s frustrating at times, because, obviously, I’m not in F1 to fight for P15.
“At the end of the day, I’m with the team for a longer project. I believe in the project. I know where we’re heading, I know we are making a lot of good changes. I’m sure we’ll come out stronger as a team.”
Franco Colapinto highlights the key issues that slows down Alpine over the weekend:
“We need to try to make the car a bit more predictable. Luckily, we know our weaknesses. The car is quick when it’s in the window.”https://t.co/IXXA1Qs3eO

Alpine is currently focused on the 2026 season, with high hopes that it will be able to start the season competitively. In order to do this, the team has taken the decision to sacrifice development across the rest of the 2025 season, which Gasly is confident will pay off.
With Briatore’s sights set on wins in 2026, could we see Gasly finally in the fight for a Drivers’ Championship?
