F2, or Formula 2, kicks off its 2025 season with the pre-season tests in Barcelona, the same as F3. Like previous pre-season tests, the session is divided into morning and afternoon sessions.
Formula 2 isn’t utilizing 100% sustainable fuels like F3, but F2 and F1 plan to do so by the 2027 season.
Day 1 of pre-season testing ended with ART and Campos Racing taking charge of the scoreboard for each session respectively.
Victor Martins leads the board for ART in the morning session
The testing began 45 minutes late due to an intense fog. The start didn’t last long as Rodin’s Alex Dunne brought out a red flag in the opening minutes. Most drivers were doing shorter runs without setting lap times.
Max Esterson broke the ice and set an early benchmark of 1:29.252. Richard Verschoor then followed up with a 1:27.340. Invicta’s Roman Stanek continued to lower the threshold with a 1:26.734.

Victor Martins then put a 1:26.303, just an hour to go into the session. PREMA’s Sebastian Montoya and Gabriele Mini sandwiched Martins into P2, taking P1 and P3, respectively. MP’s Oliver Goethe split the top 3 more, going P2, pushing Martins down to P3.
Martins improved on his time with a 1:25.790, and remained P1 for the rest of the morning session. Mini, Goethe, Montoya, and Stanek made up the rest of the top five respectively.
Arvid Lindblad takes Campos Racing to the top in the afternoon session
Richard Verschoor opened up the afternoon session, setting an early time of 1:27.710. Before the next driver could put up with Verschoor’s time, two red flags were waved. One for Max Esterson who drove into the gravel. Second for Dino Beganovic whose car stopped on the track.
Beganovic restarted and tried to take down Verschoor’s score but ended up P2 0.479s down. His teammate Browning settled for P3 just 0.069s away.

PREMA broke another pair, this time with Campos. Mini and Montoya went P2 and P3, pushing Marti down to P4. Leonardo Fornaroli put Invicta in P3 with a 1:24.592. The session ended prematurely with a red flag as Meguetounif went into the gravel, sealing the session. The session marks the first day of the F2 pre-season testing.
