Why Ferrari Could Finally Return to Glory in Front of the Tifosi at Monza

Scuderia Ferrari has not had the best season so far this year. Although they currently sit 2nd in the Constructors’ Championship, they are the only team among the top 4 teams to not have won a Grand Prix yet. However, this could change as we head to Monza for the Italian Grand Prix this weekend.

Whenever Ferrari heads to Monza, they are able to unlock a bit more pace from their car than they have in other circuits. Since the F1 Championship made its debut in 1950, Ferrari has won in Monza 20 times, the latest being last year. So the question is, can they do it again this year?

All the factors pointing to another Ferrari win at Monza

Until now, we have seen both the McLaren drivers at the front of the field race after race. However, we did see some positive signs from Ferrari in the first two practice sessions of the weekend. In FP1, Ferrari went 1-2 with Hamilton on top. So there is no doubt that there is pace in the SF-25.

There is no doubt that McLaren continue to be the favourites to win in every weekend going forward. However, considering how difficult it is to overtake this year, Ferrari could stand a chance if they are able to start in the front row.

Pole position should be achievable for Ferrari this weekend if both drivers work together. Given that both the McLaren drivers are battling for the Championship, they won’t be willing to help each other out with a tow during the qualifying laps. This won’t be the case for the Ferrari drivers.

In a circuit like Monza, the slipstream can be extremely powerful if executed properly. This could be the difference between pole position and a 2nd row start.

Another very important factor supporting Ferrari is the Tifosi. Ferrari is like a religion in Italy, especially in Monza. They certainly add to the team’s and drivers’ energy over the weekend. There is no doubt that the team and drivers will be more motivated than ever to win in Monza.

If one of the drivers is able to take pole position, they will get the chance to control the pace from out front. If Ferrari is able to get a front-row lockout, they have a huge chance of winning the race.

Has Lewis Hamilton recovered for the Italian Grand Prix?

Throughout the season, Lewis Hamilton has been struggling to get in grips with the SF-25. Its definitely not an easy task for him given that he has spent his entire career until this season driving a Mercedes car. This change to Ferrari has not been easy so far.

However, there were some positive signs over the last week. After a much-needed summer break, Hamilton arrived in Zandvoort, able to match Leclerc’s pace throughout the weekend. The pair qualified P6 and P7 for the race with Leclerc in front. The race was looking somewhat positive for both the drivers until they both ended up in the wall in 2 seperate occasions.

But until this unfortunate moment, Hamilton was putting on a quick and consistent performance. So with the extra energy he receives from the Tifosi this weekend, we can be sure that he will do his best to live up to the expectations.

Hamilton has always performed well in tracks where he receives a tremendous amount of support. We have seen this happen multiple times in tracks like Silverstone and Sao Paolo, where he has had the support from the home crowd.

So let’s keep our eyes peeled on the red and white cars during this weekend’s Italian Grand Prix.
