Ever since Fred Vasseur became the team principal at Scuderia Ferrari in 2023, the team has made great progress in terms of performance. However, they only have one goal – to win the Championship. To accomplish this, Vasseur has stated what they need to do as a team.
Back in 2020, Ferrari had one of their worst seasons in F1 where they finished only 6th in the Constructors’ Championship. But since Vasseur took over, they have made a lot of progress. This year the expectations are going to be higher than ever as Lewis Hamilton joins the Scuderia.
Fred Vasseur reveals Ferrari’s mindset for the 2025 F1 Season
Given the expectations from the team for the 2025 season, Fred Vasseur has made it clear what their mindset will be like for the year.
“It’s just that it has to be the mindset of the team that we have to come each morning to try to do a better job than yesterday, and to try to improve what we are doing, hundredths of seconds by hundredths of seconds. But this mindset is the DNA of our sport, and if we don’t have it, we are dead.”
“That means that I will continue to push, I will continue to push all the employees to first, to be convinced that they are all a performance contributor, every single level, and that on every single area, we have to do a better job than 2024.”

In 2024, we saw Ferrari consistently finish on the podium, especially during the 2nd half of the season. We also saw Charles Leclerc take two crucial wins in Monaco and Monza during that same year. They went on to finish 2nd in the Constructors’ Championship, only behind McLaren. So this year, they will be hoping to win the Championship.
However, given that this is Lewis Hamilton’s first year with Ferrari, he may need some time to get used to the new car and power unit. Throughout his F1 career, Hamilton has raced with a Mercedes engine behind him. So he may need an adjustment period. But Ferrari clearly has one of the best driver lineups for the 2025 campaign.
What are the expectations from Ferrari’s competitors?
Ferrari’s direct competitors for the 2025 season are Red Bull and McLaren. Both these teams have had a positive couple of years and will be looking to win the Championship in 2025 along with Ferrari. As it stands, the odds are leaning towards McLaren as their cars have proven to be strong along with a driver lineup that is accustomed to the machine. After all, they did win the title last year.
Red Bull on the other hand did not have a great 2nd half last year. They were unable to match the pace of the Ferraris and the McLarens. In addition to this, Red Bull has also hired a new driver, Liam Lawson, who is not very experienced in F1. Right now, the team are too dependent on Max Verstappen’s talents.

This is going to be a very exciting year as it is completely unpredictable as to who will win the Championship. Who do you think has the best chance this year to take the title? Post your thoughts in the comments section below.
